You may read in your car owner's manual that the
manufacturer recommends you NOT wax your car. This is primarily
because the manufacturer cannot control what wax product you put on your
paint. They are aware that the majority of waxes on the market contain
turpentine and/or kerosene. These products are used as cleaners and to
break down low grade carnauba. What essentially happens is the
turpentine softens your paint (clear coat) to remove contamination.
However, the paint will remain soft for some time, allowing airborne
contaminates to imbed themselves into the paint. This places your car
on the fast track to clear coat deterioration (as seen above).
That's why we believe turpentine is best used for paint removal.
